The World Union of Jesuit Alumni (WUJA) will hold its quadrennial international Congress at John Carroll University in suburban University Heights, Ohio, from June 28–July 2. It will be the first-ever WUJA conference in North America. Past events have been in Rome, Versailles, Sydney, Kolkata, Bujumbura and Medellin.
The 2017 event will feature a diverse three-day program of renowned speakers in the arts, business, science, law, spirituality, theology, faith and leadership, service, and justice. The program will offer 28 individual sessions in a concurrent track format so that attendees can select sessions of interest to them.
Keynote speakers include: the Very Rev. Timothy P. Kesicki, S.J., president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States; Rev. Gregory J. Boyle, S.J., founder and executive director of the social enterprise Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles; Chris Lowney, best-selling author and current board chair of Catholic Health Initiatives; Katherine Marshall, a senior fellow at Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs; and Rev. Peter Balleis, SJ, director of Jesuit Worldwide Learning–Higher Education at the Margins (JWL), a collaborative global initiative that provides certificate and diploma programs to those who live in refugee camps and in other places where higher learning is out of reach.

1967 Ford Thunderbird or $10,000 Cash Top Prize of Raffle During July 15 Event
Garfield Heights OH — Car buffs of classic and modern vehicles will flex their collective muscles when they roar into The Village at Marymount for the inaugural Matriarch Muscle Machine Mania Car Show.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15 and feature such categories as classic and modern muscle; convertible; custom; daily driver; under construction; hot rod; classic and modern truck; and imported Euro.
Those attending the car show will be treated to music by DJ Spikeman and the chance to bid on and win a variety of Chinese auction raffle basket. Food will be available for purchase from Rascal House Pizza.
The highlight of the show will be the chance to win a 1967 Ford Thunderbird, courtesy of North Coast Muscle Car, or $10,000 cash, in a raffle that will benefit The Village at Marymount. Second prize is a 55-inch flat screen color television, and third prize is a $200 Giant Eagle gift card. Raffle tickets are just $50 each, and the winner need not be present to win.
The T-bird is a California car with no rust and less than 50,000 original miles. Its rebuilt 390 cubic inch engine and C-6 automatic transmission make this vehicle a true muscle classic. The T-bird also has a new fuel tank, braking system, new tires, and features a stunning turquoise finish and come with its original Marti Report.
Exhibitors can register a car for $5 in advance or $10 on the day of the show. They will receive a custom designed T-shirt courtesy of North Coast Muscle Car, and a custom dashboard plate.
“We’re hoping to have at least 100 cars entered in the show,” said Liz Pencak, The Village at Marymount’s Director of Marketing and Clinical Liaison. “This car show is certain to be one of the most talked-about shows of the summer.”
Three celebrity judges, to be announced, will help to determine the winners in each class, and Best of Show. The Village at Marymount, North Coast Muscle Car, and Rascal House Pizza sponsor the event.

THE VILLAGE AT MARYMOUNT HOSTS ITS EIGHTH CELEBRATION OF LIFE GALA AT EMBASSY SUITES IN INDEPENDENCE
Garfield Heights OH — The Village at Marymount will host its eighth Celebration of Life Gala from 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Embassy Suites, 5800 Rockside Woods Blvd N in Independence.
Guests will have the opportunity to bid on exciting vacation destinations and unique experiences during the live auction. The silent auction features items from Cleveland’s sports, dining, travel, and entertainment scenes.
“We are excited to have our gala return to Embassy Suites, which is the site of our first gala in 2010,” said Sue Nall, RN, LNHA, Executive Director of The Village at Marymount. “This year, as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Villa St. Joseph and The Village at Marymount, it seemed appropriate that we host the gala at the same place we started eight years ago.”
