On June 3, the Catholic Community Connection (CCC) launched its 3rd annual Summer Fellows Program! The Summer Fellows Program is a 10-week internship which offers students real-world, paid work experience at Catholic Community Connection partner organizations (Catholic ministries throughout Northeast Ohio.) This competitive fellowship prepares students mentally, professionally, and spiritually as they make decisions regarding their future careers and post-graduate work.

This year, there are students representing 4 Catholic colleges in Ohio participating in 8 different internship opportunities. The students and internships are:

Missy Davis Notre Dame College Village at Marymount
Jillian Doherty John Carroll University Regina Health Center
Tobias Engel John Carroll University Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland
Mark Grabowski John Carroll University Catholic Charities
Alexis Saltis John Carroll University Village of St. Edward
Gabrielle Sergi John Carroll University Catholic Cemeteries Association
Chantaisa White Ursuline College Society of St. Vincent De Paul
Karmen Sharp Xavier University Light of Hearts Villa

Each student has been paired with a mentor associated with the organization to help the student learn more about the organization’s mission. A few of the mentors are lay individuals who work at the organization, while others are religious sisters who have a connection with the organization.

Near the end of the Summer Fellows Program, students will present to their peers, mentors and representatives of CCC partner organizations about their worksite’s mission, legacy and the impact on those served. Students are encouraged to include personal reflections about their work experiences over the course of their fellowship.

Interviews of the Summer Fellows will be featured on this site, check back often to meet the 2019 Summer Fellows.
