It is a pleasure to introduce you to Summer Fellow Caroline DiFabio. She is serving as the Content & Digital Marketing Intern at St. Augustine Health Ministries.

Caroline is a rising Senior at John Carroll University majoring in Integrated Marketing Communications with minors in Business & French. She was drawn to the Summer Fellows program because she has always been interested in working with a nonprofit organization and working somewhere with a good cause.

As a Content & Digital Marketing Intern, Caroline is working with the marketing department to create content to post on social media. “I am taking pictures of residents, staff, volunteers, activities, and events and also writing and posting about memorable moments at the organization.” Caroline’s supervisor, Dana Carns, has been a big help when it comes to writing for an audience. “She has taught me how to connect with the families when I am writing about the patients or the organization.” Caroline’s mentor is Sr. Catherine Walsh, CSA. “When I met with my mentor, she told me the story of how and why she became a nun and the impacts it has had on her life. It was so inspiring to hear all the good she has done for people.”

St. Augustine Health Ministries has taught Caroline how important it is to focus on the quality of life and the future that is coming. “When patients enter any healthcare facility, they can easily develop a negative mindset, but when the staff around them have a cheerful and positive attitude it can make a huge difference in the patients’ lives.”

Caroline has enjoyed spending time with the residents and getting to know them on a personal level this summer. The most memorable moment she has experienced was taking the service dog around to the residents and seeing their faces light up with excitement. “It was so heartwarming to see how something so small can make such a positive impact on their day.”

In the future, Caroline hopes to “continue to work somewhere that promotes a good cause and to always have faith in myself wherever life takes me.”
